So far though you can only view it from the outside. It just happens to be five minutes away from my favorite place to eat. I definitely recommend getting food from Aroma Coffee and Tea while you’re in the area. Several homes get a little bit of a transformation for their on-screen appearance. However, I think one of the homes that looks the most different is the house from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Over the years the color of the house has changed several times, the white picket fence is gone, but the unique shape is still recognizable.

Now with a major shopping center and thousands of homes, Bohannon certainly has left his mark here. The David D. Bohannon Organization, run by a younger generation, is still going strong. The Bohannon Foundation is a family non-profit charitable organization that is still giving back to the community. He was a national leader in real estate development by the ’30s.

Since all the homes on this list are private residences I do ask and recommend that you try and be as respectful as possible when you go to visit. The Gamble House in Pasadena is one of my favorite homes to visit. It is filled with fascinating details and a tour is well worth your time. I recommend visiting The Gamble House to admire the architecture and history as much as I recommend visiting it as a filming location. I have toured the house for free on two different occasions which you can read about here. This is Doc Brown’s house in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The 1948 film starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy celebrated leaving city life and spreading out in suburbia. An episode of the 1950s television anthology series Stage 7, titled The Hayfield, aired on September 18, 1955, and was based on the Blandings characters. In the episode, Mr. Blandings attempts to clear a hayfield on his property by burning it off, with predictably disastrous results. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House is a 1948 American comedy film directed by H. C. Potter, and starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas.

It is semi-close to The Grove if you want to stop by on a visit over there. While a lot of filming does take place in Downtown Los Angeles the homes for characters are typically found in more residential neighborhoods. One of the main exceptions is the apartment from New Girl. As a huge fan of The Golden Girls seeing their “Miami” house in person was a thrill! I recently had the opportunity to see the inside of the home when it went on sale as it turns out that I knew the realtor.
So when a friend of mine posted a picture of this house I knew I had to see it in person. It was a very short drive from Casa Walsh and was close to Eaton Canyon where I was hiking later that day. This house is picturesque and has a fabulous fairytale vibe to it. I can see why they chose to use it in the movie. The film’s PR department suggested building replicas of the Dream House as an advertising promotion.

I was able to walk up to the gate to get a picture. Luckily the family wasn’t spending time in the yard. This home feels the most private in the sense that all of the other homes on the list are easily visible from the street and sidewalk. In this case, you do have to walk to the gate in order to see the house. General Electric was actively involved in the promotion.

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House is a 1946 comedy novel written by Eric Hodgins and illustrated by William Steig, describing the vicissitudes of buying a home in the country. It originally appeared as a short story called "Mr. Blandings Builds His Castle" in the April 1946 issue of Fortune magazine.
When the movie finally opened, proud GE officials found that all the kitchen scenes had been cut out. The craftsman-style house is located near downtown Long Beach.

The demolished house's owner also sues them for the balance of his mortgage.
